ABOUT
DREAMS + THINGS

Dreams + Things was started in late 2022.

The 12 song record, written, arranged, recorded and mixed by Jeff Bove, contains a variety of songs, from heavy rock (“All Good People”)to light acoustic (“Spinning Round the Mulberry Tree”).

Many of the songs have numerous time and key changes. The songs tell stories of happiness, hope, and hurt.

Of memories from the past and visions of the future.Of Dreams + Things.

The vocals are over the top.

This is Dan White’s most skilled work.He and Jeff took an entire summer to arrange and track vocals. They quadruple tracked every vocal line in every song with no pitch control, creating a truly unique texture.Solid lead lines anchor each tune, with backgrounds adding layers of harmonies, sustaining beds weaving in and out, carefully panned with selected reverbs of varying widths and depths.

Echo vocals answer lead lines sometimes telling a subplot within the basic story lines of the songs.

Tommy Alderson anchors the songs with driven bass guitar lines, complex guitar picking, overdriven rakes, and carefully placed melodic lead lines often textured with stacks of harmonies. The guitars sing their own story lines.

This is some of Tommy’s best work.

Dave Lee plays acoustic drums using the large house drum  kit which once graced stages in huge arenas worldwide (thank you Ian Paice). Dave’s drumming is spot on and dynamically lowers and lifts each of the songs.

Dave also edited all of the tracks on the record, setting up great mixes.

In addition to writing and arranging all of  the music and lyrics ,Jeff played rhythm guitar, piano and virtual instruments. He was the producer, and tracking and mix engineer.

Special thanks to Fab Dupont for mastering this record at his Flux Studios in NYC.

And thanks to Dave Meredith for his website design and art work.

Throw Caution To The Wind

The Jeff Bove Project

Throw Caution To The Wind was started in early 2020. All of the 16 songs were written over the next two years by Jeff Bove.

As with other Jeff Bove Project records, this one is also multi-genre.The songs reflect influences from Steely Dan,Tom Petty, the Eagles, the Byrds, Spirit, Santana , Sting and many others. There are shades of 60’s overtones, country, blues, pop, rock and funk.
The lyrics work seamlessly with well structured lead lines and arrangements:

“Where do the butterflies go? Do they leave the hills for the fields down below?”
From “I Wish Time Stood Still”.

“Somedays you’ve got a fortune to spend, then the next day you’ve got nothing to lend. ”
From “Don’t Throw Love Away”.

“If we keep holding hands we won’t have to say goodbye”.
From “Throw Caution to the Wind”.

“Life is full of twists and turns,I’m thankful for all I’ve got, Every time I think of you,I know I’ve got a lot”.
From “Dusty Road”.

“Love is like a rambling rose, it makes you feel so good wherever it grows”.
From “Get Back to You”.

“I had no idea it would be this way, just trying to make it through another day”.
From “A Little Bit of This”.

Throughout the record, acoustic guitars are blended with dulcimers, cathedral organs, Hammond organs, pianos and a variety of other virtual instruments. A Rickenbacker electric 12 string was also used on a number of songs.

Dan White sang all 16 songs. A truly stellar performance and with no pitch control.

Tommy Alderson played acoustic and electric guitars and contributed some memorable lead work, complimenting the vocal lines.

Tommy also played the bass tracks with Dave Lee on drums. Jeff blended in some low frequency virtual basses in spots and piano bass.

The record was written, arranged, tracked, mixed and produced by Jeff Bove, who also played guitar, keyboards and virtual instruments. As with all of the Jeff Bove Projects, it was mastered by Fab Dupont at Flux Studio in New York.

Dave Lee, who provided invaluable input, served as the primary editing engineer and was assisted by Nick Krill.

Dave Meredith supplied the artwork and design.
We hope you enjoy our record.
